Bloody Sunday Commemoration Begins in Selma
Montgomery, Alabama – The Reverend Jeremiah Wright is scheduled to speak at an event tonight kicking off an annual event in Selma commemorating Bloody Sunday.
Wright will speak at Tabernacle Baptist Church beginning at 5:30 p.m. You may recall that Wright,the former minister for President Barack Obama, grabbed national headlines during the Presidential election.
U.S. Attorney General Eric holder is scheduled to speak Sunday at two locations during the annual bridge Crossing Jubilee.
Holder will speak at a the Unity Breakfast at Wallace Community College beginning at 7:30 a.m. and later at Brown Chapel Church beginning at 10:00 a.m.
The Reverend Al Sharpton is scheduled to speak Sunday at Tabernacle Baptist Church beginning at 10:00 a.m.
At 2:30 p.m. Sunday, participants will march across the Edmund Pettus Bridge commemorating Bloody Sunday when State Troopers attacked Civil Rights marchers holding a non-violent protest march to Montgomery seeking voting rights.
Monday, participants will wrap up events with a slow ride from Selma to Montgomery beginning at 9:00 a.m.
