Black Engineers to Host E-Day in Montgomery

The Montgomery chapter of the National Society of Black Engineers will be hosting its annual Engineering Day also known as "E-Day" this Saturday, August 27th at Oak Park in Montgomery.  The free event will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Pavilion number Four south of the Planetarium.  The event is aimed at increasing minority students participation in exploring careers in science, technology, engineering and math.  Students from Kindergarten through 12th grade are invited to a number of activities including making slime, launching water bottle rockets and testing hoop gliders.  More information can be found online at sect.nsbemp@gmail.com.  

Melanie began her career as a work study student, working in the areas of news reporting, anchoring and news-gathering. After graduating from Alabama State University, she worked as a production assistant at the local NBC affiliate, WSFA-TV. As a News Director at WVAS-FM, Melanie leads her team to produce award- winning newscasts and talk shows. Her professional achievements includes News Reporter of the Year for a number of years and awards for talk show producer, by the Alabama Broadcasters Association and the Associated Press. She is an active member of the Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce. Her goals are to expand the reach of WVAS FM into more homes locally, regionally and nationally.
