Selma, AL – Funeral services will be held Tuesday for an Alabama State University basketball player killed last week in a one vehicle accident. 18-year old Richelle Monique Jones was a freshman center for ASU who played for Selma High School. Department of Public Safety spokesman, Dorris Teague, said Jones was traveling on Alabama 21 about 15 miles north of Camden Monday night when her vehicle left the road, hit a tree and overturned. Services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Tuesday (December 30th) at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Selma with Pastor Coley Chestnut officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood cemetery. The tragedy was the second to strike a member of ASU's basketball teams this year. Deshean Porchea, a 19-year old sophomore on the men's basketball team, died April 23rd.
