Thousands of fans are heading to Birmingham, Al to see the traditional rivalry between Alabama State University and Alabama A&M University during the 76th annual Magic City Classic game. Alabama State (1-5, 1-2 SWAC) is coming off a bye week after a 23-16 win over Texas Southern on Oct. 14. The series is also one of the closest in rivalry games as Alabama A&M leads the Magic City Classic series 39-33-3, and two of the last three games have been decided by just one point – including last season's 42-41 Alabama A&M victory in overtime. Interim Head Coach Donald Hill-Eley spoke to members of the media on Wednesday during the Magic City Classic press conference; he says he’s eager to get to the game. Eley says his main focus this week has been discipline and making sure the players do everything with character and any try to prevent any unsportsmanlike conduct penalties.
The 76th edition of the Magic City Classic kicks off at Legion Field in Birmingham, Al at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. The game will be televised on ESPNU and can be heard 90.7 WVAS FM, with pregame beginning at 2 pm.
