Artur Davis, Joe Reed spar over health care bill

By Demo party boss Joe Reed clashes with Ala congressman

Montgomery, AL – - A congressman seeking to be Alabama's
first black governor has run into an early obstacle - the leader of
the black wing of the Alabama Democratic Party.
Rep. Artur Davis says Alabama Democratic Conference Chairman Joe
Reed believes a public official's race matters more than his
capacity for independent judgment. Davis, in a statement Monday,
said Reed also believes a black officeholder must follow a certain
racial path or be inauthentic.
The ADC chairman recently blasted Davis for being the only
member of the Congressional Black Caucus who voted against the
federal health care legislation. Reed said Davis is looking out for
his political interests, rather than his constituents.
