The September unemployment rate in Alabama improved to 6.6. percent. It had been 6.9 percent in August. Director of Communications for the state Department of Labor Tara Hutchison says several job categories saw increases. In a rare occurrence, every county in the state saw a decrease in unemployment.
Moving Vehicle
A 49-year-old woman is dead after stepping out of a moving recreational vehicle on Interstate 65 in Montgomery County. Sheriff's officials say it's unclear why the woman might have left the RV. They say the father was driving and the mother was in the restroom when the woman opened the door and stepped out.
Fall Colors
The Alabama Department of Tourism is mapping the predicted fall color change in the state. Brian Jones is the Public Relations Director for the Department, he says their website chronicles the transformation. State Parks make for some of the best viewing areas, like Oak Mountain, DeSoto State Park and Joe Wheeler State Park.
