An Alabama State Trooper delivered a baby while he was on the scene of a care accident on Interstate 59 in Tuscaloosa on Thursday. Trooper Richard Pittman was approached by a motorist who needed help because his passenger was in labor. When Pittman approached the vehicle, he found the woman in active labor. Officials say Pittman quickly told medics the location of the vehicle and assisted in the delivery of the baby. Pittman kept the family calm until the ambulance arrived after the baby was delivered. Both the mother and the newborn were taken to DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa.
