Alabama Operation Lifesaver

Alabama Operation Lifesaver is trying to curb railroad deaths and collisions by hitting the road for a 40-city tour across the state.  Alabama ranked sixth nationally in train/motor vehicle collisions in 2015 with 90 collisions, according to ALOL.  Five of those resulted in deaths.  Operation Lifesaver Executive Director Nancy Hudson says the tour will emphasize pedestrian safety.  Alabama has about 3,500 miles of tracks, and roadway meets railway at more than 6,000 intersections along those tracks.  A full list of the cities being visited by the ALOL 40 City Anniversary Tour can be found on ALDOT's website.
