Ala troopers to enforce 'move over' law

By Troopers urge Ala drivers to comply with 'move over' law

Montgomery, AL – - State troopers say drivers in Alabama
will soon be required to move over or slow down when there's an
emergency vehicle on the side of the road.
The Press-Register reports that motorists who fail to do so
could face a ticket.
The law that requires drivers to move into the next lane or slow
down used to be known as the "Blue Light" law. It was changed
earlier this year to include all emergency vehicles with flashing
lights, not just law enforcement vehicles. Now it's called the
"Move Over" law.
Trooper spokesman Cpl. Steve Smith says troopers have been
issuing warnings up to now. But starting Jan. 1 they'll begin
ticketing violators.
