Ala State remains preferred site for interpretive center

By National Park Service likes ASU site for new center

Montgomery, AL – - A location at Alabama State University
remains the National Park Service's preferred location for an
interpretive center on the Selma-to-Montgomery National Historic
Trail after completion this week of environmental studies of
propose sites.
The Montgomery center will be the final one of three to be
located on the trail. The trail commemorates the 1965 voting rights
march from Selma to the Capitol in Montgomery.
Some critics complain that the 5.2 ASU site was not on the route
of the famous march. But ASU officials and others told the
Montgomery Advertiser the ASU site would benefit from the college's
resources.
Alabama State executive vice president, John Knight, said
college officials plan to work closely with the other two proposed
Montgomery sites, City of St. Jude and Mount Zion AME Zion Church.
