Ala senate o-ks bill to fight new federal health care plan

By Upper chamber approves bill to fight new health care law

Montgomery, AL – - The Alabama Senate has passed
legislation designed to the fight the federal health care plan.
The Senate voted 23-8 for a bill that would ensure that no
person, employer or health care provider could be compelled to
participate in any health care system.
The bill's sponsor, Republican Sen. Scott Beason of Gardendale,
says it would help with the lawsuit that Alabama's attorney general
and other state attorneys general have filed over the federal plan.
The Senate voted to cut off a filibuster by opponents before
passing the Beason's bill.
It won't take effect unless approved by the House and by Alabama
voters in a referendum in July.
