Ala gov questions timing of casino closings

By Gov believes casinos closings related to recent crackdown by task force

Montgomery, AL – - Two Alabama casinos have closed their
doors temporarily, prompting Gov. Bob Riley to question if they are
making changes in their machines in hopes of avoiding legal
problems.
The state's largest casino, VictoryLand in Shorter, shut down
its 6,000 machines Monday night, and the White Hall casino in
Lowndes County closed the doors on its 900 machines Tuesday.
White Hall attorney Joe Espy said the casino closed because it
didn't want to put employees and customers at risk for another raid
by the governor's task force like happened last March.
Riley said both casinos should give the media access to make
sure no evidence is being tampered with or destroyed before it can
be used in court.
