Ala. GOP leaders predict success for ethics bills

By Ala Republican expect legislators to approve ethics bills

Tuscaloosa, Ala. – Leaders in the new Republican-controlled
Legislature predict they will pass Gov. Bob Riley's ethics
proposals in a special session starting Wednesday.
Senate Majority Leader Del Marsh of Anniston says there are
enough votes to pass all seven bills in the legislative agenda
proposed by the outgoing Republican governor.
Legislators are holding an orientation session in Tuscaloosa and
the topics Tuesday include legislative ethics.
Sen. Cam Ward of Alabaster has sponsored a bill to give subpoena
power to the State Ethics Commission for several years. He predicts
the bill will finally go through this time.
Senate Minority Leader Roger Bedford of Russellville says
Democrats are planning to present their own ethics proposals
Wednesday.
