Ala A-G mulls suit over new health care legislation

By Troy King considers lawsuit over new health care provisions

Montgomery, AL – - Alabama Attorney General Troy King says
he hopes to join other states and go to court to challenge
provisions of the newly passed federal health care legislation.
King told The Associated Press he is concerned the bill that
passed Congress Sunday "tramples state sovereignty" by requiring
people to have health insurance and by taxing people for not having
insurance.
King said he and his staff have been participating in conference
calls with attorney general offices in other states Monday
discussing a possible lawsuit. He said he did not know what state
would take the lead, but mentioned Florida, Texas and South
Carolina as possibilities.
He said his office is in position to move on the issue once
President Barack Obama signs the bill into law.
