The AHSAA Levies Fines and Penalties in Basketball Brawl

Montgomery, Alabama – The penalties are being handed down for the two high school basketball teams involved in an on court brawl during Alabama High School Athletic Association play last week.

Montgomery's George Washington Carver High School faces a $2,600.00 fine, and its boys basketball team will NOT be allowed to play in any tournaments next year. The AHSAA said it might lift the tournament ban at a later date depending upon Carver's actions over the next few months.

Valley High School must pay fines of $3,900.00 for its part in the fight. Valley faces the heavier fine because all of its players emptied the bench and rushed the floor joining in the fight. Valley is also banned from tournament play for one year.

Following last week's fight, both teams were disqualified from the current playoff action.
