2016 Homeless Count

Volunteers set out in search of the homeless in Montgomery Thursday night.  The Mid-Alabama Coalition for the Homeless was conducting its annual homeless point in time count.  Each year the group attempts to determine the number of unsheltered individuals in the River Region for use in gauging the success of its initiatives.  Executive Director for the Coalition Molly Stone says the volunteers canvass the entire area.  Besides getting a head count of the homeless, workers distribute food, blankets, coats and hygiene products to any unsheltered individuals they encounter.
