2014 Alabama Kids Count Data Book

The health of a child is among the four areas studied and reported in the 2014 Alabama Kids Count Data Book.  The findings were released Wednesday by Voices for Alabama's Children.  Dr. Tom Miller with the Alabama Department of Public Health says there are some noteworthy improvements.  The data report covers 46 indicators in categories of family and community, education and economic well-being.  This year marks the 25th year that the Kids Count Data book has been released.  

Money Quest

Alabama doesn't have a lottery but many residents may be able to cash in on thousands of dollars in unclaimed property.  Money Quest Alabama is an online database that allows Alabamians to claim forgotten assets.  To see if you have unclaimed funds at the State Treasurer's Office visit moneyquest.alabama.gov.  

Vacant Seat

The Prattville City Council is looking for new member.  Council members approved a resolution Tuesday night to officially declare the District 5 seat vacant.  The seat became open after Clyde Chambliss won a state Senate seat in District 30.  The Prattville City Council will begin accepting letters and resumes' from qualified applicants from December 1st through December 15th.
