11 people indicted in gambling probe plead innocent

By All 11 plead not guilty in Ala bingo bribery case

Montgomery, AL – The 11 defendants accused of bribery
over a pro-gambling bill at the Alabama Statehouse have pleaded not
guilty to the federal charges.
A trial date for the 11 has been set for April 4, with all of
the defendants to be tried together.
The defendants - four state senators, three lobbyists, two
casino owners and two others - entered their not guilty pleas
Friday during arraignment at the federal courthouse in Montgomery.
About 20 supporters arrived with one of the defendants, Dothan
casino developer Ronnie Gilley. Some carried signs proclaiming his
innocence.
