In celebration of the 8th Annual Small Business Saturday®, Macon County local and student business owners in conjunction with the Tuskegee Area Chamber of Commerce (TACC) will present the 2nd Annual Small Business Saturday® Welcome Center on Saturday, November 18, 2017. This year’s event will be located at the Tuskegee Municipal Complex, 101 Fonville Street, Tuskegee, Alabama from 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Small Business Saturday® presented by American Express® is in its 8th year, and is normally held annually the Saturday after the Thanksgiving holiday. In an effort to include the phenomenal work of Tuskegee University student entrepreneurs, we will kick-off the celebration one week in advance of the official #ShopSmall weekend. An exciting addition to the student involvement is the Shark Tank® Business Pitch Competition sponsored by the Tuskegee University ENACTUS Organization, which allows the students to win a monetary prize for business concepts based upon the United Nations Sustainable Goals. We expect 35-40 businesses to participate in the exhibit space, participating retailers around town will open their doors, and we will have TWO mobile stores. As an added bonus for business owners, we are offering a FREE market readiness breakfast seminar. The Small Business Saturday® Welcome Center will be FREE for the public and participating businesses. Attendees will receive a welcome bag with goodies and information from local businesses throughout the area, as well as being eligible to win sponsored prizes. Due to limited space, local and student businesses are required to pre-register online at www.tusmacsbs.eventbrite.com no later than November 11, 2017 to be included in the event. For more information regarding the Small Business Saturday® Welcome Center, please contact Garrysa Caffey, Small Business Saturday Neighborhood Champion at 334-521-2008 or Stephanie Simon at 334-226-0750.
